With over $50 Billion in wealth, he still stays in a 53-year-old house that too with "just" five bedrooms. He surely must be bluffing about his wealth, because, we know for sure he is not bluffing about the house! Or is he? Well not at all. His known public wealth is 50 billion dollars and growing.

His logic is simple: An extra ten rooms in the house is not going to create any major difference to him. However, the same money if invested rightly (of which he is a master) can be made to grow to probably ten times the same amount.

IE Code - Imports

Registration to get IE Code Number:

A citizen or a company starting a business for International trade has to Register the Company with the Director of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Foreign Trade, to obtain an IE Code number, then only one can export materials to other countries and import materials from other countries to India.

Before 1997, it is essential to obtain this I.E Code number from the Reserve Bank of India, for every first time exporter for his export operations. Later, this work being done by Director General of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Foreign Trade, Govt.of India.

DGFT provides every exporter an unique Import Export Code Number. IE Code Number is a ten digits code required for the purpose of export as well as import. No exporter is allowed to export his goods abroad without IEC number.

Exceptions are there for export to Nepal, Myanmir or to China through Gunji or Nathuala ports.If the CIF value of a single consignment does not exceed Indian amount of Rs. 25,000 /-there is no need to obtain IE code number for export to the above destinations.

What are the benefits of Import Export Code? (IEC)

On the basis of IEC, companies can obtain various benefits like incentives, drawbacks facilities on their Exports/Imports from DGFT, Customs, Export Promotion Councils etc.

The documents required for an IE Code application are listed below :

Demand Draft payable towards the application fee of Rs. 250/-. in favour of Joint Director General of Foreign Trade.

Certificate from the Banker of the applicant's firm in the format given in Appendix 18A (Part B).

Self certified copy of Permanent Account Number (PAN) issued by Income Tax Authorities (both sides).

Two copies of passport size photographs of the applicant. Photograph on the bankers certificate should be attested by the banker of the applicant.

Self addressed envelope duly stamped for Rs.30/-.

These documents may be kept securely in a file cover.

No fee is chargeable for modification in IE Code, if informed within 90 days of such changes.

After 90 days, a fee of Rs. 1000/- is charged.

Rs.200/- payable in the form of Demand Draft for issuance of duplicate IE code number.

Permanent Account Number (PAN):

PAN is mandatory. Photocopy of PAN card has to be submitted alongwith the application. If PAN card is not issued to the applicant then a copy of PAN allotment letter from Income Tax Deptt will also be accepted.

It means that import is to bring in the goods and services into the port of a country from another country. The buyer of such goods and services is known as an "importer" who is based in the country of import whereas the overseas seller is an exporter. We know about famous proverb 'First impression is the best impression' it definitely applicable to this interview session.But when you are going late will create bad opinion.

Getting a job is not difficult but negative aspects leads to interview rejection.If you are going to interview without any rehearsal which leads to negative aspect.When you are going to attend an interviewwithout knowing the company profile and job description.It also a negative remark for you.

Some points:

No Proper Timing: If you are going to interview for our convenient time is not appreciable. You will create bad impression on your timing,then how can you impress the new employer. First of all,timing plays a major role in the interview schedule.There is no other way to satisfy your new employer with your educational qualification or degree score.

No respect to the interviewer: When you are facing the interview, no formal wish to the interview and saying thank you.Not giving respect and talking like a friend which leads to negative aspect during interview

Identify your Importer and sending Free Samples:

Identify your Importer from the importer's list available with the respective Councils and Write letter with samples of buyer's choice to the selected buyer.

The buyer may require for product sample before placing a confirmed order.Hence, it is essential that the samples are made from good quality raw materials and after getting an order, the same quality to be maintained.

To avoid the risk in sending a costly product sample for export, extra care should be taken and while sending a sample, secrecy is an important factor,especially risk of copying the original product is there during export.

An exporter should also know the Government policy and norms for export of samples,before sending a product sample. Always advised to send samples by air mail to avoid undue delay in sending a product sample to the buyer. By cheaper mode it can also be sent through Indian post.

Samples marked Not for Sale are allowed freely for export without any limit.

Samples of value more than Rs. 25,000- It becomes necessary for the exporter to obtain GR/PP waiver from the Reserve Bank of India.

Export Promotion Councils are non-profit organisations for the promotion of various goods exported from India to international market. They are in close contact with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and functions to bride the gap between the exporting community and the government.

It is inevitable for every exporter or importer to obtain a registration cum membership certificate from the Export Promotion Council. An application for registration should be accompanied by a self certified copy of the IEC number. Membership fee should be paid in the form of cheque or draft after confirming the amount from the concerned EPC. Madurai Vizha 2011 - My Experience

Dear all,

I hope you all enjoyed our Madurai Vizha in Gandhi museum which was held on Jan 28 to 30th.It was totally focused on Cultural and Historical significance of Madurai.

We planned to visit madurai vizha on friday, unfortunately we went there on jan 30th evening time.Before entering into that event we didnt expect this kind of events and audience over there.There was a big crowd in the ticket counter, then we entered into unexpected crowd.When we entered we saw Iyyanar statue at the entrance,then we could find Terracotta,Wood carving,Basket weaving,Javvu Mittai and some of the displays like Antique jewellery, Photographs, Movie screenings, Hand printed textiles, Ethnic designs, Literature and Photos depicting Madurai’s history.There were many girls surrounded for Kili Josiyam.We didn't missed out the puppet show performance.Finally we attracted by one bold voice,that was Dr. Gnanasambandham Pattimandram and we spent some time over there.We missed some competitions like Cooking, Kolam drawing, Hair dressing, Essay writing,quiz and also Heritage talk,gold making,Poikkaal Kudhirai Dance and Oyilaattam.That was a good experience with my friends during weekend time.

We expect this Madurai Vizha for the upcoming years.

ICICI Bank sees loan growth picking up in H2

ICICI Bank, India's No 2 lender, expects credit growth to pick up in the second half of 2010/11 and sees no problems in raising deposits, its chief executive said on Tuesday.

The bank expects disbursals of loans that have been already sanctioned to happen soon, Chanda Kochhar told reporters on the sidelines of a banking conference.

In July, ICICI Bank met expectations with a 17% rise in quarterly net profit and forecast 15% credit growth in the year ending March as loan demand from corporate and mortgage borrowers remain strong.

China, India top investment targets until 2012: UN

The world's biggest companies are planning to boost their international investments over the next two or three years, with most spending planned in major emerging economies, according to a United Nations study.

China, India and Brazil are the top three target countries for foreign direct investment (FDI) until the end of 2012 with the United States, for years number one, now in fourth place, the UN trade and development agency UNCTAD said.

The Geneva-based agency, which acts as a think-tank on economic trends in developing nations, said the global economic crisis from 2008 was less harmful than feared for investment.

The conclusions were based on a survey of the FDI climate among 236 leading multinational corporations and 116 investment promotion agencies.

Global investment flows slumped in 2008-09 as a result of the economic downturn but are expected to recover slowly in 2011 and 2012.

Mergers and acquisitions

Incoming FDI, mostly from richer countries like the United States and the bigger powers in the 27-nation European Union, is a key component in development plans for many poorer countries.

But in recent years big firms based in the more successful emerging economies have taken a growing role, investing in both rich and poor nations, often through mergers and acquisitions.

The crisis had accentuated a shift of the geographical focus of FDI towards developing and former communist economies.

These countries accounted for 9 of the top 15 priority FDI destinations for global firms, UNCTAD said.

China was the number one attraction for the second year, with India up from third in 2009 and Brazil up from fourth, pushing the United States down from second.

Russia was fifth, the same as in 2009, but Mexico leapt to sixth place from 12th last year, leapfrogging Britain at seventh, Vietnam at eighth and Indonesia at ninth. Germany, Europe's biggest economy, fell from seventh to 10th.

Thailand, Poland, Australia, France and Malaysia were the five countries next most favoured, the UNCTAD survey showed.

In July, UNCTAD predicted that total FDI flows could rise to USD 1.3-USD 1.5 trillion in 2011 after USD 1.2 trillion this year, and jump to USD 1.6-USD 2 trillion in 2012.

The highest total on record was USD 2.1 trillion in 2007, but this fell 16% in 2008, then a further 37% to USD 1.11 trillion in 2009 as the crisis left companies slashing spending.

UNCTAD said optimism that the worst of the crisis was over had encouraged companies to revise investment programmes, with some 58% saying they would boost FDI in 2011-12.

But it noted that optimism was greater among multinationals based in the developing world than among those in richer economies, especially those headquarted in Europe.

Infrastructure Sector: 5 key points to remember

India's infrastructure has been improving slowly but steadily over recent years, with foreign investors increasingly keen to invest in the sector. Here are some key facts about India's infrastructure sector:

1-India, Asia's third-largest economy, expects to invest about $500 billion in infrastructure, mainly in power, telecommunication, roads, railways and oil pipelines, in the five years ending March 2012.

2- India will need to spend more than $1 trillion on infrastructure from 2010 to 2019, with roads requiring $427 billion, power $288 billion and railways $281 billion, according to Goldman Sachs.

3- Infrastructure investment is relatively low compared with some countries in Asia. Around 7.5% of GDP is invested in infrastructure, with plans to increase that to about 10% at the end of the 2008-2012 five-year plan.

4- Private investment will likely contribute 36% , or $186 billion, to total infrastructure investment by the end of the 2008-2012 five-year plan, up from 25% for the 2002-2007 period.

5- India will issue tax-free infrastructure bonds with a minimum tenure of 10 years, which will have the potential to raise about $6.5 billion in fiscal year 2010/11, according to government estimates, and the number could rise in 2011/12.
